Jif had a good Christmas this year, on Christmas Eve he got put into time out. He protested, “No time out mama, it’s Christmas Eve”.
The day after Christmas Jif exclaimed “Best Christmas Ever” while playing with his new train set. You can overhear him all day saying “Thomas to the Rescue” as he plays in his room with his trains

My Special Hot
1. It's Halloween time and we had Jif all dressed up in his Peter Pan costume, he was holding his trick or treating pumpkin and we were getting ready to cross the street so I told Jif to hold my hand. He replied "No, I hold pumpkin's hand!".
2. Jif is a real mama's boy lately. The other day my husband kissed me. Jif said, "Stop kissing!" and continued to say that every time my husband kissed me. After a dozen requests to "Stop kissing!" I asked Jif why he wanted us to stop kissing, I asked "Is it yucky when I kiss daddy?" He said "Yes, it's yucky". Then I said, "Is it yucky when mama kisses Jif?" Jif thought about it and said, "No, it's yummy."
3. Jif is getting a real imagination and he often likes to pretend that he is "Pirate Hook". Yesterday he told me "I'm pirate Hook and Reese is the crocodile." Poor Reese gets stuck being the crocodile.
4. Lately we have been talking about sharing and how sometimes friends have a "special" toy that they don't want to share, and that's ok. Jif decided that his stuffed doggy is his "special" doggy and he doesn't have to share him. Yesterday he saw his little friend at the playground and he exclaimed "Look mama! It's my special Nena!". Precious. Then last night while I was cooking dinner Jif reached up to touch the oven. I said, "Jif! Don't touch! The oven is hot!" And he asked, "Oven is mama's special hot?" Oh it's so funny to see him try to make sense of the world he lives in.

SCRIPTURES FIRST!
Jif is a boy of order. And he is very good at making sure we remember all the steps in getting him ready for bed. The other day I was gone at a church meeting and my husband told Jif to clean up his toys because it was almost time for bed. Jif proceeded to scream "NOT YET!!! SCRIPTURES FIRST!" My husband assured Jif that we would read scriptures and started cleaning up the toys, but Jif did not help him. Jif jumped up on the couch, grabbed the scriptures and opened them and began reading "And Behold, Lead me Guide me walk beside me."
Reese is becoming a big girl! Last Tuesday she crawled on hands and knees for the first time, pulled herself up to a standing position for the first time, and had her first two teeth poke through. She says "no no no no no" whenever she is angry. And claps and says "Yay" whenever she is happy. She also says "tada" and raises her hands in the air. And my husband and I both agree that she has been saying "I did it" and "all done". I'm not sure if she knows what those mean, I think she is just coping Jif since he says those two things non stop all day. At first we thought it was coincidence but she has been saying those two phrases over and over and they are getting clearer and clearer.

A Princess
This morning when my husband was getting ready for school and putting his shoes on Jif quickly asked me for a cup of juice. I gave him one and then he said loudly that he wanted to sit on dada's lap to drink the juice. He was obviously trying to prevent my husband from going to work. Dada couldn't resist and cuddled with Jif for a little bit and then my husband said, "Jif I love you" in which Jif replied, "No, dada love school." I think Jif was laying on the guilt a little too thick.
Today I had a lot of laundry to fold so I rented Aladin On Demand and Jif and I watched it together while I folded clothes. Jif loved it! When DaDa got home I told him that Jif and I watched a movie. DaDa asked Jif, "What movie did you watch?" Jif responded "Princess Movie" (referring to Jasmine). I said, that's right, we watched Aladin and Princess Jasmine, do you know who else is a princess? Reese is a princess." Jif replied immediately with "Jif princess too!" We tried all night to convince him that he was a prince. We are still working on that one. However he drew the conclusion on his own that mama is also a princess. :)
Jif loves disneyland. The other morning (a weekday morning) Jif woke up and DaDa went to get him. Jif said "Go Disneyland?" DaDa said, "no, not today". Jif said, "Disneyland fun, rides, yee ha!" DaDa said, Disneyland is fun, maybe we will go this weekend. Jif then decided to switch tactics "Watch Cars?" DaDa said, "Let's get you some cereal," and Jif said "Cars funny! Cows--moo pbluffhfhf." (Referring to the tractor tipping on the movie cars). We have gone to disneyland a couple of times this month and Jif loves it! DaDa said he had to do homework on Friday so Jif (with the help of mama) said "Disneyland Disneyland! Disneyland!" until DaDa gave in. It also helped that Jif ran and got his mickey mouse ears to convince DaDa to go. After our day at disneyland DaDa tucked Jif in bed and Jif said "Disneyland fun. Happy Happy". DaDa has no regrets about that day at disneyland. There is nothing like tucking your toddler into bed while he repeats the word happy over and over because he had the best day of his life.

Funny?
Jif has a wild sense of humor. For the last week, whenever he says something he looks at me and says "Funny?" and waits for me to affirm whether that was funny. Sometimes he is right on when asking about funny, for instance he will say "Goofy, funny?" but sometimes he is not, for instance when he hits Reese and then asks "Funny?" No..Not funny. Jif has always been the class clown and he loves an audience, which is a problem because when he gets wild Reese always laughs and then there is no stopping him. I know that I might have to talk to his teachers about this in the future when he is in grade school.
The other day my husband got Jif dressed for bed, he put on pajama bottoms and an Old Navy Christmas shirt from 2010 with a picture of Santa on it. Jif walked out and I asked "What's on your shirt?" Jif replied "Christmas!" I said, "Right, but who is that a picture of on your shirt?" Jif was quiet so I said, "Is that Santa on your shirt?" Jif replied, no mama, it's not Santa, it's God". I'm glad he knows the true meaning of Christmas.

Jif: Last night my husband came to me asking if Jif was really saying that he was afraid of a cow in his room when he was tucking him in. I said that I didn't know. Today while I was tucking Jif into his bed for his nap Jif said, "Scared cow!" I said, "A cow?" He said, "Yeah mama, scared cow, moo moo." I said, "Where is the cow?" He said, "It's right there, see it?" I said, "In the crib?" and he replied "Yeah". So I removed the invisible cow from the crib across from his bed and told the cow that he was not allowed in Jif's room. I am currently listening to my husband tuck Jif into bed tonight and Jif is saying he is still scared of the cow in the crib. I've heard of monsters under the bed, lions in the closet, but cows in the crib?
Lately Jif has been saying that he's scared of a lot of things, two of which being bunnies and potties. I'm ok if he wants to be afraid of a bunny, but he is not allowed to be afraid of the potty.
Jif: Lately Jif has been telling us that his favorite food is corn and how yummy it is. Unfortunately he uses a "p" instead of a "c" to start the word corn. We are working hard to fix that one.
Reese: Jif has been going around the house singing "ee iii eee iii ooo" (Old McDonald). Reese has quickly caught on and whenever Jif starts up she sings along "eee iiii eee iii eee iii". Isn't she a little young to be doing that? At first I thought it was a coincidence but she has done it a dozen times now while he is singing. I think she is going to be an early talker.
